Remote Digital Marketing Campaign: Buergbrennen 2025

A cross made of wooden pallets, prepared for the Burgbrennen celebration in Luxembourg.

Despite being in Australia, I successfully managed the digital promotion for my Luxembourg Scout Group’s Buergbrennen 2025 event. The campaign showcased how effective digital strategies can overcome geographical barriers and drive significant community engagement.

Key Initiatives

Social Media and Content Marketing

  • Facebook Event: Created and promoted a Facebook event with targeted ads, achieving 1,200 responses—nearly four times the previous year’s 318.
  • Article and Website Integration: Authored an article about Buergbrennen, which gained 30,600 impressions and 1,700 link clicks, significantly outperforming previous periods.
  • Cross-Platform Links: Added a banner on the homepage and linked the article to the Facebook event, driving traffic and engagement.

Local Partnerships and Recruitment

  • Municipal Collaboration: Requested promotion through the local municipality’s social media channels to leverage community networks.
  • Recruitment Flyer: Designed a flyer with a tracked QR code for leader recruitment, though it showed room for improvement with only 5 scans.

Giveaways

  • Instagram: Hosted a “like and tag” giveaway for a voucher to encourage engagement.
  • Facebook: Conducted an “estimate the construction height” contest to comply with Facebook’s rules, fostering creative engagement without tagging or sharing.

Results and Insights

  • Attendance Growth: Estimated 2,500-3,000 visitors, approximately three times the previous year’s attendance.
  • Digital Engagement: Significant increases in Facebook event responses, article impressions, and link clicks.
  • Key Takeaways:
    • Platform-Specific Strategies: Tailoring approaches to each platform’s rules and behaviors maximizes engagement.
    • Cross-Channel Promotion: Integrating multiple channels enhances visibility and drives real-world participation.
    • Remote Management: Demonstrated the feasibility of managing successful events remotely through digital tools.

This campaign highlights the potential of digital marketing to amplify community events and overcome geographical challenges, providing valuable insights for future initiatives.
